How You Can Help Those Affected by the Earthquake in Nepal

Relief efforts in response to the magnitude 7.8 earthquake that struck central Nepal on April 25 are underway in Nepal and other affected countries.

The best way to help those affected is to make a monetary donation to a reputable humanitarian organization working in the disaster zone. As a U.S. government agency, the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) does not accept donations for its crisis response efforts, but the non-governmental organizations listed on USAID's Nepal Earthquake website have issued appeals for donations.

USAID does not endorse or recommend any specific organization. However, the USAID-funded Center for International Disaster Information provides this list of organizations as a service to potential donors. These organizations have met a series of basic criteria validated by third parties, but we encourage you to be an informed donor by engaging with them directly. The organizations on this list work in Nepal full-time.

For groups responding on the ground who want to know how to connect and coordinate, visit the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UN OCHA) site. In addition, the United Nations maintains ReliefWeb, a repository of information listed by disaster, submitted by responding humanitarian organizations.

THEY MAY NEED FOOD, WATER, MEDICAL CARE, CLOTHES, SHELTER AND REBUILDING OF DAMAGED STRUCTURES IN NEPAL. THE INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY HAVE TO INVOLVE IN RESCUE, RELIEF , CARE AND REHABILITATION. ALL G-20 AND OTHER NATIONS SHOULD AID ONE BILLION US DOLLARS TO KEEP THE NEPAL ON TRACK. ALL PEOPLE WHO ARE HELD UP NEED TO BE TRANSPORTED TO NEAR BY COUNTRIES LIKE INDIA. UN SHOULD BUILD SHELTER HOMES IN KATHMANDU AND IN OTHER PARTS OF NEPAL. RESCUE , RELIEF AND REBUILD NEPAL WILL BE A PRIORITY. I SERVED 6 YEARS IN NEPAL IN 3 DIFFERENT MEDICAL COLLEGES.NATO SHOULD BUILD A BIG MILITARY BASE PERMANENTLY WHICH CAN BE HELPFUL TO SECURE AND RESCUE IN TIME OF NATURAL CALAMITIES.G-20 SHOULD PUMP MORE MONEY IN TO NEPAL .
