A Note of Gratitude: Progress In the Fight to End Hunger

As we celebrate Thanksgiving, we wish everyone a safe and happy holiday, and wanted to share with our readers this note from our colleagues working on Feed the Future about progress in the fight to end hunger.

As many of you gather around the table with friends, family, and loved ones, we want to wish you a happy Thanksgiving. Every year, this day marks a time to give thanks, reflect on our progress, and share a meal together.

We have much to be thankful for in the realm of global food security this year as we’ve made incredible progress in achieving our shared goal of a world free from hunger. Already, data are showing that poverty and child undernutrition have dropped in many areas where we work.

And this summer, the United States achieved a major milestone in the fight against global hunger with enactment of the Global Food Security Act. Passed with overwhelming bipartisan support, this legislation validates and strengthens the successful approach to food security we’ve pioneered under Feed the Future.

Global momentum on food security and nutrition continues to grow. In October, we submitted the new U.S. Government Global Food Security Strategy to Congress, outlining a plan for how the United States will contribute to the global call to eradicate poverty and hunger.

Our work to increase food security and help people escape poverty for good is making a global impact and has put a food-secure future within our reach. Thank you for your partnership and work to bring us closer to that goal.
